What Is Floor Is Lava?
Floor Is Lava is a rising-lava climbing game for Android and web — jump from platform to platform as the lava rises below you, and try not to touch it. It's built around one simple rule: "Jump. Survive. Don't touch the lava."
What it does
Floor Is Lava is developed by Mad Chaos Software (game concept by Lance Eleninovski, developed by Toni Eleninovski). At its core it's an arcade platformer: platforms scroll upward (or the lava rises toward you) and you jump between them, collecting coins and power-ups while avoiding hazards.
The game is built around several distinct modes, each with its own rules:
- Climber — the core endless-climbing mode.
- Frogger — a variant with its own platform layout and hazards.
- Versus — race against CPU-controlled bots (Roxy, Blaze, Zippy).
- Timer — climb against the clock.
- Story — Volcano Chronicles — a 51-episode story campaign that takes you to real volcanoes around the world.
- Cavern — a cave-set variation of the climb.
- Level Editor — build and play your own platform layouts.
- Lava Ship — a mode that unlocks after finishing all 51 Story episodes.
You can play as a guest with no account at all, or create an account to save your progress across devices and appear on the community leaderboards.
How to start playing
- Open Floor Is Lava — you'll land straight on the home screen with no login screen in the way.
- Use the mode carousel in the middle of the home screen to pick a mode (Climber is selected by default).
- Tap Play to jump straight in.
- Want to save your progress permanently? Head to Settings to create an account — see Guest Mode vs. Creating an Account for the difference.
Tips
- You don't need an account to try the game — jump straight into Climber mode as a guest.
- Your best score and coins are shown right on the home screen, so you always know where you left off.
- If you plan to play on more than one device, create an account early — guest progress is stored on that device only.
- The bottom navigation bar (Play / Versus / Story / Editor / Scores / Friends) is the fastest way to jump between modes without going through the carousel.
