Floor Is Lava Coins: Earning & Spending

Coins are earned from pickups, not just from climbing, and there's a real cost to dying — here's exactly how the economy works.

How you earn coins

Only green platforms carry a collectible coin — each pickup is worth a base 20 coins, and this rate is the same in Cavern mode as everywhere else. Simply climbing higher doesn't earn coins on its own; you need to actually collect them from green platforms as you pass.

You can also claim a once-a-day "2× Coins" bonus by watching a rewarded ad — this doubles your coin earnings for your next run, but it's only available to signed-in accounts, not guests. That's just one of several free bonus-coin systems — see free bonus rewards for the daily login streak, comeback gifts, and the Mystery Box too.

How you lose coins

Dying costs you a death penalty of up to 30 coins (never more than you actually have, and never pushing you negative). This applies across modes — it's not limited to Climber. The one exception is Practice Mode, which has no coin penalty at all. Premium waives this penalty entirely. Power-ups always reset to zero on death regardless of Premium status, separately from the coin penalty.

Losing a Versus race carries its own separate 30-coin loss penalty, also waived by Premium, or refundable by watching a rewarded ad after the loss.
