Floor Is Lava FAQ
Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Each one links to a full guide if you want more detail.
Do I need an account to play?
No — you can play as a guest right away. Signing in with email or Google links your progress to an account so it isn't lost if you switch devices, and it unlocks leaderboards, which guests can't post to. See Guest vs. account.
What's the difference between Premium Bundle and Remove Ads?
Both remove banner and interstitial ads. Premium ($3.99) additionally adds bonus coins, a permanent 2× coin rate, all premium outfits, penalty waivers, and Level Editor access. Remove Ads ($1.99) is ad removal only. See Premium vs Remove Ads.
How do I earn coins?
Coins come from collecting pickups on green platforms, worth 20 coins each — not from climbing distance alone. A once-daily 2× Coins bonus is available via a rewarded ad for signed-in accounts. See Coins — earning & spending.
Why don't I appear on the leaderboard?
Guest accounts don't post scores to any leaderboard. Sign in with email or Google to appear on mode leaderboards. See Leaderboards.
How do I get my purchases back on a new device?
Use Restore Purchases in the Store screen. On Android this restores via Google Play Billing; on web, sign in to the same linked account you originally purchased with. See Restore Purchases.
Can I install Floor Is Lava without an app store?
Yes — open floorislava.online in Chrome and use "Add to Home Screen" to install it as a PWA, no app store required. See Installing the PWA.
What happens when I die mid-run?
You lose up to 30 coins as a death penalty (waived by Premium) and your power-ups reset to zero. Practice Mode is the one exception with no coin penalty at all. See Coins — earning & spending.
What's the difference between all the game modes?
Climber is the classic endless climb, Frogger limits visibility, Versus races you against bots, Timer is checkpoint-based, Story is a 51-episode campaign, Cavern breaks up the climb with sideways sections, Level Editor lets Premium players build levels, and Lava Ship is the post-story space-flight mode. See the full Game Modes guide.
