1.What is Floor Is Lava?

Floor Is Lava is a fast, arcade-style platform game built around one simple, panic-inducing rule: the floor is lava, and it is rising. You leap from platform to platform, climbing as high as you can while a wall of molten rock chases you upward. Miss a jump, hesitate too long, or land badly, and the lava takes you. It is easy to pick up in seconds and surprisingly deep once you start chasing high scores, race times and the story campaign.

Progress, coins and leaderboard scores save to your device the moment you start playing — no sign-up needed. If you later create a free account, your progress follows you across devices.

2.Game modes

One tower, many ways to climb it. You choose your mode from the wheel on the home screen before each run.

🧗 Climber — The classic endless climb, and the best place to learn. You can always see the next ten platforms above you, so it rewards rhythm and clean jumps.

🐸 Frogger — A blind climb. Only two platforms are visible above you; the rest are there, you just have to leap on instinct. A one-run "Frogger Peek" reveals more when you need a lifeline.

⏱ Timer — A race against the clock to platform checkpoints (100, 250, 500, 1000 and beyond). The lava accelerates as you climb; your best times reach the global leaderboard.

⚔️ Versus — A four-way race to the top against three AI rivals — Roxy, Blaze and Zippy. Beat them to the highest platform to win.

🌋 Volcano Chronicles — The story campaign, across dozens of episodes set on real-world volcanoes. Each volcano's real elevation sets your climbing target, and every rescue recovers a lost artifact.

🕳️ Caverns — Every so often the vertical climb breaks open into a sideways cavern run: horizontal lava, mine-cart rails, bats and vines before you punch back up.

✏️ Level Editor — Design your own levels, place your own platforms and hazards, and drop your creations straight into endless play.

🚀 Lava Ship — The unlockable endgame. Finish the full story and the artifacts you rescued are forged into a ship for a relaxed, one-finger flight mode with its own distance leaderboard.

3.How to play

On desktop

Space jump · ↓ + Space short hop for tight gaps.
← → move left and right.
↑ use the power selected on the wheel.
1 Jump Boost · 2 Skip · 3 The Book · 4 Lava Ship · 5 Parachute · 6 Torch. Hold ↓ + a number to buy that power on the spot.
P pause · R restart the run.

On mobile

Tap the left or right side to move; tap the top half to jump; tap near your character for a short hop.
Drag to slide sideways; pinch to zoom in and out.
Use the on-screen Power Wheel to fire a power instantly.

4.Coins, power-ups and Premium

You earn coins as you climb and spend them on power-ups that turn a doomed run around — a Jump Boost to clear a big gap, a Parachute to slow a fall, a Torch to light a dark cavern. Coins can also be earned through optional rewarded videos or topped up with coin packs. An optional Premium upgrade removes ads, waives Versus loss penalties and unlocks creative tools like the Level Editor. The game is completely free to play from start to finish — purchases are always optional.

5.About the studio

Floor Is Lava is made by Mad Chaos Software, a solo independent game studio based in Sydney, Australia. What began as a single "how high can you get" prototype grew into a full multi-mode platformer with a story campaign, custom levels and global leaderboards, developed and updated by one person who reads player feedback.
