Floor Is Lava Night Mode & the Torch

Once you pass level 20 the screen starts going dark, and your character's torch is the only thing lighting the platforms ahead. Keep the torch charged and you can see; let it die and everything vanishes except the platform you're standing on.

What it does

Night mode is a visibility challenge that begins at level 20. From there, a darkness overlay covers the screen and your torch casts a circle of light around you. You can only jump toward what you can see, so the size of that circle directly controls how far ahead you can plan.

The torch runs on a battery that drains as you play, shown by the 🔦 torch meter in the HUD. As the battery falls, the lit circle shrinks in steps — from a wide, comfortable glow on a full battery down to a tiny pool of light when it's nearly empty:

Torch batteryLight circle
Above 75%Widest — easy to read the next few jumps
50–75%Noticeably smaller
25–50%Tight — one or two platforms of warning
Below 25%Tiny pool right around you

If the battery hits zero the torch dies and full night mode takes over: the light goes out and the only platforms still visible are the ones you physically land on as you go. The game warns you as the battery runs low and again the moment it dies — "🔦 Torch dead! Buy 🔋 batteries in shop!" Refill the torch and the darkness lifts again straight away.

Torch out: night mode plunges everything into darkness except the platform right under you — time to buy a battery.

How to keep the lights on

  1. Watch the 🔦 torch meter in the HUD once you're heading toward level 20.
  2. Buy a 🔋 Torch Battery from the Shop (30 coins, hotkey 6) — it refills the torch to 100% and pushes night mode back. You can hold up to 20 charges.
  3. When the battery gets low, the game pops a quick-buy prompt so you can top up without opening the full Shop.
  4. If the torch does die, buy a battery to instantly relight — you don't have to wait it out.
