Floor Is Lava Mine Cart
Inside Cavern mode's sideways tunnel, your power-ups don't do their usual thing — each one becomes a mine-cart ride that carries you forward along a rail, and you're invincible for the whole ride.
What it does
The Cavern has a horizontal section where you travel sideways ahead of a wall of lava instead of climbing upward. Because a "jump 50 platforms up" power-up makes no sense when you're moving sideways, the game converts each vertical power-up into a mine cart instead. You hop into a wooden cart that slides you a set distance down the tunnel, and while you're riding it nothing can touch you: no obstacles, no bats, no lava, and no fall-death.
How far the cart takes you depends on which power-up you spent. The distance is measured in platform lengths forward:
| Power-up spent | Cart distance |
|---|---|
| 🦘 Jump Boost | 4 platforms forward |
| ⏭️ Platform Skip | 8 platforms forward |
| 📖 The Book | 17 platforms forward |
| 🚀 Lava Ship | 50 platforms forward |
The 🔋 Torch Battery is the one exception — it stays a torch and does its normal job of pushing back the dark, since light still matters underground. Using a power-up spends one charge from your supply, exactly like it would in a normal climb; if you're out of that power-up, the usual buy prompt appears instead of a cart.
How to use it
- Reach the horizontal tunnel section in Cavern mode.
- Fire any power-up you own — Jump Boost, Platform Skip, The Book, or Lava Ship — the way you normally would (hotkey, power wheel, or the drawer).
- You jump into the cart and ride forward the distance in the table above, invincible the whole way.
- At the end the cart launches you out with an upward power-jump kick in your travel direction, dropping you back into normal sideways play.
You can only ride one cart at a time. If you try to fire another power-up mid-ride, the game just flashes "🛒 Already in a mine cart!" and keeps your charge.
Tips
- Save your Lava Ship for the Cavern — at 50 platforms it's by far the longest cart ride and the safest way to skip a nasty stretch of tunnel lava.
- The invincibility covers the whole ride, so a cart is a reliable escape when the sideways lava wall is catching up or bats are knocking you around.
- Don't spam power-ups back to back expecting stacked rides — the "already in a mine cart" message means the second one won't fire until the first ride ends.
- Torch Batteries still work as normal light down here, so keep buying them if the tunnel goes dark.
