Floor Is Lava Timer Mode: Checkpoints Explained
Timer mode races you against the clock to a series of platform checkpoints — 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, and 5000 platforms. Miss the time limit for the next checkpoint and the lava catches you almost instantly.
What it does
Instead of dodging a slowly rising lava floor, Timer mode is about pace: each checkpoint has a target time to reach it, and clearing one submits your time to that checkpoint's own leaderboard along with an on-screen "Platforms Cleared!" banner. There's no coin reward for hitting a checkpoint — the reward is the leaderboard entry and bragging rights. The lava itself also speeds up gradually as you climb, so later checkpoints get progressively harder to make even with a good pace.
If you run out of time before reaching the next checkpoint, the lava snaps up to your position almost immediately and ends the run — there's no slow warning, so watch your pace rather than the lava.
How to play it
- Select Timer on the home screen's mode wheel.
- Tap Play and climb as fast and safely as you can toward the next checkpoint.
- Clear checkpoints at 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, and 5000 platforms to post your time to that checkpoint's leaderboard.
- Keep an eye on your pace rather than the lava — in Timer mode, running out of time is what kills you, not the lava creeping up gradually.

Tips
- Each checkpoint (100/250/500/1000/2000/5000) has its own separate leaderboard — you can chase a best time on an early checkpoint without needing to survive to the later ones.
- The lava accelerates as you climb, so a pace that felt comfortable early on may not hold up near platform 1000+.
- Because running out of time ends the run instantly, it's safer to keep moving steadily than to stop and plan a jump for too long.
