Floor Is Lava Lava Ship (Space Mode) Explained
Lava Ship is the reward for finishing every episode of Volcano Chronicles — a relaxed, endless one-finger flight through space with no coin penalty for crashing.
What it does
Lava Ship (also called Space Mode) unlocks once you've completed all 51 episodes of Volcano Chronicles, triggered by the ending cutscene where your rescued treasures assemble into a ship. Note this is a different thing from the Lava Ship power-up item you can buy in a regular climb — that's a one-time 120-coin boost that launches you 50 platforms up; Space Mode is a full standalone mode you unlock by finishing the story.
Your first run is a cinematic arrival sequence; after that it's endless drift. Controls are one finger, and the on-screen prompt sums them up: hold to thrust, drag to steer. Holding accelerates the ship and builds speed; dragging left or right steers it; letting go lets it coast and slow back to a gentle cruise. It's consequence-free, with no coin penalty for a rough moment. The only gauge on screen is a thrust meter that fills and empties in a red-orange-yellow gradient as you hold; there's no separate heat or overheat mechanic beyond that. Distance is tracked in light-years as you pass waypoints like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and eventually Andromeda. Your best distance is saved as a personal best on your device — it's not currently a live or global leaderboard entry.
The faster you go, the more the starfield stretches into streaks — that "warp" look just means you're at full thrust and covering light-years quickly, not a separate boost you have to unlock or activate.
How to play it
- Complete all 51 episodes of Volcano Chronicles to unlock Lava Ship.
- Watch the treasure-assembly cutscene, which leads straight into your first Space Mode flight.
- Hold to thrust and drag to steer — keep the thrust gauge managed as you drift.
- Fly as far as you can past each waypoint to build your personal-best distance in light-years.
Tips
- There's no coin penalty here, so treat it as a relaxed mode rather than a high-stakes one.
- Your best distance is only stored locally on your device right now, not on a global leaderboard — don't expect to see it compared against other players yet.
- Watch the thrust gauge rather than trying to eyeball your altitude — it's the only feedback the game gives you on your flight state.
